Amy Lamp of Orlando is even replacing the traditional Champagne toast at her Saturday wedding with 7-Up. But how about something a bit more permanent? How about having 07/07/07 as your birthday? Yes, some women are planning to induce labor or have cesarean sections on Saturday, giving their children a special birth date that will last a lifetime. "I think all parents want their kids to have an edge. This might just have them start out on the right foot," says Linda Murray, editor in chief of BabyCenter.com. She says July 7 birth discussions have been going on for months on the website’s community board.

I should have realized this date would be made a big deal of, especially considering the hoopla surrounding the "satanic" 6-6-6 last year. If I recall correctly, however, nothing unlucky did happen on this date except for the release of a bad film and a few people getting scared that the world was going to end.
Well nevermind, the 7th of July this year is conversely supposed to be "the luckiest day of the century" and many are already planning their celebrations, with top celebrities such as Eva Longoria getting married on this date. Apparently she will be in good company as thousands of other people have also chosen this date to marry.
Myself, I can’t believe so many people are falling for the numbers trick again, as though the number 7 is actually divine. Moving into the 21st century should have made us more rational but it seems we’re still stuck in the simplest of myths. Not to make anyone feel guilty for their celebration plans of course, but may I also remind everyone that the so called "lucky" day of the 7th is also the anniversary of the July 7th bombings? Oops.
